Who remembers why we want to "study?"
When we first started studying in September, it was hilarious. Running around with heroes and clicking left and right trying to kill someone. Remember those times? The times where we were laughing at how stupid we were, or how someone played really well, or just simply laughing cause someone did something stupid and it was hilarious.
We've lost that, i think, when we "study" now-a-days.
What I see now is, people boasting about how good they are, people laughing at other people, people genuinely getting pissed off over things (however little, or big they are), I see swear words flying up on the screen, people ranting and being angry.
IT IS NOT FUN ANYMORE. IT ISN'T FUN WHEN PEOPLE START YELLING AT EACH OTHER, BEING PISSED OFF, SWEARING, AND JUST PLAIN OUTRIGHT NOT PLAYING THIS TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX.
Perhaps some of us were better at this game than others, or perhaps some of us spent some time to get better at this game. But skill level wise, there is a disparity and its showing. DoTA is not as forgiving in skill than say footies because well, footies you use an army of soldiers, and in DoTA you only control ONE hero and what you do with your hero will affect the outcome of the match. Whatever the reason is, DoTA has made us rather angry at each other and its not even fun anymore. I played last night, and you all saw what happened. Personally, I don't see repicks as an issue. You start off with 300 less gold, but a random chance at another hero, but there are others who insist on no repicking. Someone suggested to me for all pick, but thats even worse, because the players who know how to use certain characters will be at an even more advantageous position and things will spiral into THIS IS NOT FUN ANYMORE.
Where do we go from here?
In efforts to reinject FUN back into the game, we need to take measures. I believe that we need to examine ourselves on why we "study". Is it to relax and to have fun, or has it gone so competitive that we don't really think about fun and just try our hardest to shatter someone. Perhaps we should level the playing field, letting the not so skilled members a chance to learn and a chance to catch up. I know that I am available for people to ask me how to play, and willing to share my knowledge on this game to others. Perhaps implementing all pick, but all "skilled" players must choose random (-random at start of game). SOMETHING that helps us have fun again. Heck, change games (battleships? footies? Enfo Survival? Perhaps a TEAM game like a hero defence where we all work on the SAME TEAM instead of being competitive, cause right now pitting us against each other is just causing a lot of anger)
I know for myself that I've done each and every single thing I pointed out that makes this game not fun and I am examining myself on my motivations to play. I suggest you all do the same. I don't want to see people getting angry and pissed off over a game. If this continues, I might just stop studying all together. Whats the use of a game when its not even fun?
Just some thoughts I had after yesterday's game, I know we're all tired, exhausted and such, but we cant exactly go bonkers because of that. Lets have FUN again, and less bashing each other's heads in. Please?

heh as of now my ghettoness has still resulted in me being unable to play DoTa with you guys.
The problem must be that im not there to diss you guys up. But fear not! FOr i shal be purchasing a new system extremely soon and will utilize it to eliminate any level of competitiveness through complete anihilation of self appointed superiority! By the way, would i need to buy DoTA or cud i just download it or something(not tht downloading is okay)
But yes, this is where my coolness really shines through.

*oh and on a serious thought, its usually cuz people dont understnad the fact that its all in good fun, those who "cheat" or accuse other people of cheating, whether or not it be true is usually due to soreloserness. AREU A SORE LOSER?
cause i am
personally.. i dont know what happened yesterday.. all i know was there was some arguments
I havent played dota for a while.. and i enjoy playing dota even if i get owned...i just think of it as me not having enough skill
my opinion is that everyone already had a chance to play, some probably more than others..
Battleship is a REALLY SLOW GAME especially if we are going to have more than 6 people playing... it took a long time even for 4 people...
the apem then random is okay i guess...

ummm, i don't play for ONE night and you guys have to put up a post for "studying" my gosh ... thats all i have to say. GUYS have to calm down, and i don't want to call anyone out cuz its a stupid game just to pass the time. I'm not really a gamer, but if you take this more serious than the WORD, then you have a problem. like serious, who needs to really swear when you die IN THE GAME. sheesh. calm down, you know you are guys.
anyways i'll post my devo up after this post
kim
my 2 cents:
The whole purpose for "studying" was a chance at Pray and Play. A chance, however slim it was, to get us praying for each other.
My bad for not emphasizing it or bringing it up when we play. I need help from you guys to keep it open for prayer. Moving forward, a couple things I'd like to throw out there.
1) The gogogogogooggoogog needs to stop. Before we start the game just chill and pray before heckling whoever made the game to gogogogogogogogo.
2) Ever since we started playing dota I've stopped having fun. And everyone's getting pissed off at each other. Coincidence?
3) Playing till 2:00am is pretty retarded. When Andrew's internet gets cut (sry andrew) we should ALL get cut.
That's all. If we want to keep "studying" let's bring it back to why I was excited to play in the first place: To see us praying for each other before we began to pwnzors each other.
Yo, that was good times.

ps. I will also try to stop myself from trash talking too much. I fear it leads to more destructive behaviours then a jolly good time.
yo i see that people are posting on this one and not the others when this is the least relevant to what this blog was created for
read it
LOL @ Pat.
quite true because, this is the more interesting topic. You know its true, whoever that was before pat. Actually its roughly the same... there are 7 comments. 1 is jon's "this is jon" another is the post made by some anonymous dude. Thus including mine there are 6 real posts. on par i'd say.
on topic:
firstly:
HOOOOOOOLEEEEEEEEEEEEE! dayum, some major crap must have hit the fan.
Secondly:
The skill difference between ppl in games is always going to be there. Its unavoidable, and its why there are so many problems. Say we're all jacky. we're all *insert whatever qualities you desire* How boring would that be? (cheap shot in disguise, but i mean it would be boring to play a game where everyone is the same skill level)
Games would be hard to end. See, games feed on the fact that there are skill differences. I suck. sometimes i get something alright and i can rock a little bit, other times i get totally rocked to tomorrow and complain. The complaining has to go, but at the end of the game its still "gah. thats over with. Okay whens the next one?" Sure its a pain sometimes, but other times it is quite fun. I want to experience those fun moments. So i will still put up with (to some extent) retardedness. tho, complaining... well thats another story and another part of me.
There is probably more to add to this just i lost my train of thought it being so long and all.
Thirdly:
Thats why i suggest battleship sometimes. its a change of pace. Dota is very fun, but if it gets like this, we should play something else THEN go back to it. Who cares if its less intense. It's clear we need a change of pace.
fourthly:
Yes the GOGOGOGOOGOGOGOGOGO's are dam annoying. i will not start a game if i ever see it. I did it last time too. i wont start the game till theres some silence. 5 seconds next time i host. which i shall try to do to impose jono's #3
Fifth:
i forget, but there was something here. add more later. lawl.
-guess! i be long winded!
k fine i be Andrew.
fifth point may have been something like:
In the end, EVERYONE needs patience, especially myself. Skill helps when playing the game of course, but patience is what is needed to have a good time. I would have liked to help some people out, get them to get to know the items and such. Thats probably the biggest thing, the items.
another point:
we should enforce prayer.
final point:
START EARLIER!
