"If you have any encouragement in being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with his Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being in one spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but think others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but the interests of others."
What does it say?
- if you have any
- encouragement in being united with the Lord
- comfort from his love
- fellowship with the
- Spirit tenderness and compassion
- then you don't have
- any selfish ambition
- any self interest
- The "antidote" for these are
- Selfish ambition => see everyone better than yourself
- own interest => look in interest of others
- we are to be like minded, in unity with other believers
- we can achieve this by "having the same love, being in one spirit and purpose"

When doing this devo i really couldn't find any more, what does this mean. if you read this and find more comment it. But back on track, What does it mean to me. Well for me, it's more of unity, with others in the spiritual church, which is the body of Christ, not the building. But it can only be achieved if the Lord Jesus Christ is our base, if it isn't then the church will fall and unity will not be possible.

yay it's like the whole Unity thing again. I like it.

The very first verse is strong, cause if you have ANY of the following then you should do this. As Christians, I know we have at least one of them if not all, so we are called to be this group, this family.. to be the body of Christ together. I'm liking it.

- please pray for me in this aspect as I'm getting tempted left and right, and to me once I choose to not run away from it, I have failed rbk. I want my rbk to mean something, that when I get that first week, that I know I was 100% pure and holy, not that I was maybe an rbk. I wanna be in the same mind/state I was during the summer when Jessica Alba could have walked up to my apt and I would shut the door on her. Not be there and think thoughts and THEN shut the door. I should shut the door automatically. So thank you in advance for all your prayres.
when doing this devo, i could relate to it.. but somehow abit too much.
Often i find myself seeing others as "higher" than me, and so i always make myself lower than who i really am.
since i was blessed by being born into a christian family, the "morals" and the "right and wrong" were placed into me through my bring up. so in a sense, i've probably taken this out of context but yea ... i guess i just need some prayer on it
-Jon rbk (?,1) havent posted for a few days due to studying.. so i dont know where i'm at...
What really speaks to me is the last part, where its asking us to be humble. When it mentions the interests, I interpret it as just respecting every individual's interests such that you put them before yourself. As christians i feel that this is what we're supposed to do, be self sacrificing and such towards others. I need help in this aspect, since i dont always act in the best interests of others, its usually in my own. Sometimes it would coincide with someone elses interests, but i dont seek to actively help someone else out as well. usually. I think im somewhat okay with being humble, i never think im superior, but i guess im not always repecting those i should.
-drew rbk(6.1) i think... gotta find a past comment.
Looking out for the interests of others.
How does this translate to you?
I know i've always seen it as, find a way to fix what they are struggling in, but i've foudn out recently that its made me somewhat of a "fixer" if you remember from soultalk. HOW do you find a balance?
