Retreat After Thoughts

Hi Guys,

I thought instead of a devo today, we could post a little bit of our thoughts on how the retreat went. I realize now that we didn't get to meet as a group of guys during the retreat, so I want to have this time to open up on how things went.

So...

What did you guys learn about God?
How did you experience Him?
Did you discover your One thing you can do for God?

Yay, me first.

I think the hugest thing that hit me this weekend was two things...the first:

"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." -John 13:35

I think I may be using a different verse, but whatever. I ask myself often have I been engaging in a spirit of love towards you brothers (and the sisters, as well). I feel renewed in a sense, re-ignited to serve with passion.

The second is our call to evangelism, which is our retreat theme. Jacky handed out the envelopes with the names of people we wanted to evangelize to, and surprise surprise, I haven't done anything about it. I have felt that I should be re-entering the arena of stepping out in faith, and God has rewarded me so. :)

Let me know your thoughts guys!

I felt that retreat was awesome. It was a great time of bonding and learning about each other and about God.

The first and foremost thing that i learned was the importance of evangelism. Its cool because once i came back, a non-christian friend of mine asked me to go eat lunch/movie/bbt w/ her. I thought about saying no to her, but then i just realized.. hey this is like the perfect opportunity to (first make my intentions clear that i'm only willing to go with her as a friend) and evangelize to her.

So yea, God is amazing and works in many different ways.

However, one thing that i would like is more QT with God. I kinda felt that the schedule was sooooo packed and that there was not enough time for QT with God.

My 2 cents.

Well my biggest hope for this retreat was that people can catch on to the idea of DOING something for the Kingdom, and hopefully some ppl have it down.

Alternatively one thing i learnt was to be even more patient and that.. yeah i need QT with God even more than ever. QT and digging into the bible, 2 things i need to work on for sure!

But yah, just wanna encourage everyone to revisit the envelopes and to hold on to what God has shown you during retreat... and to turn that into a passion for HIS glory.

oh yah. i also thought of this during retreat.

You can't spell PREACH without REACH. as in reaching out to people and understanding them for who they are.

and you can't spell REACH without EACH. as in, each person in your life around you, is who God commanded you to love.

and you can't spell EACH without ACH. as in, sometimes it's a pain in the ACH but for God, it's well worth it.

aren't i so clever. ho ho ho.

like jonathan said about the great bonding i must agree. just look at what happened when vince was stuck going up the hill. everyone came to help.

and i don't know what my one thing is i am still praying about it but i have a pretty good idea.. but i won't say it now.

i got to do more of the talking to people then listening which is weird for me but that's also good cause people get to know you and your testimony.

i'm tired. good night.

hmm... for me I believe I have always felt that God placed me as the first Christian in my family for a reason. And during this retreat... He just simply placed a huge emphasis on it. Such an emphasis that it brought me to tears (to the people that wondered why I was a crying/down, etc). I believe for me that's the One thing that God wants to do with my life. Besides the great killer plans for 2008, I feel it's the lifestyle and making me a man after His heart... being that example in my family. I feel that that's my One thing/call... it's also exactly what was in my envelope.

And just like Howard, one of my memorbale moments is when we all came out on the ride home pushing, helping... being united as one and taking care of one another. Cause we had people all the way from the front, back just in every car coming out to help. What other groups/student groups, etc... would do that?? That's what I mean as being different, when people look at us... that's what sets us apart. I pray to God we can continue that.

Thank you ccf and most of all.. thank you God for this weekend.

@ Brian
Prayer is Powerful. Pray unceasingly. I will pray for your family too.

@ Jono
Isnt ACh the chemical compound acetylcholine, often abbreviated as ACh, was the first neurotransmitter to be identified? (wikipedia ftw)
either that.. or ACHE is what you're talking about XP
